Climate risk to agriculture: A synthesis to define different types of critical moments

چکیده

Increasing climate variability will put crop production at risk, undermining the sustainability of agriculture-based livelihoods. Much effort has gone into assessing differential vulnerability – or who is risk. However, time dimension increased risk when often only implicitly included in modelling, statistical and empirical studies. We define explore concept “critical moments” (CMs); that is, periods heightened during year farm households are vulnerable to specific hazards. The agronomy socio-economics literature reviewed different types critical moments. Climate modelling emphasizes hazards but less about window risks relation cycles. Agronomy research develops cause-and-effect relationships between weather variables yields by stage generally does not consider hazard frequency associated vulnerability. Socio-economic analyses associations hazards, income, lacks full process knowledge, neglecting other pathways contribute Our synthesis aims bridge disciplinary silos, proposes an integrated towards In this study, three CM identified: CM’s with immediate, compound shifted impact. moments novel as it considers direct indirect impacts well coping strategies. abstract this study investigates the teachers’ correction of students’ spoken errors of linguistic forms in efl classes, aiming at (a) examining the relationship between the learners’ proficiency level and the provision of corrective feedback types, (b) exploring the extent to which teachers’ use of different corrective feedback types is related to the immediate types of context in which err...

Adapting agriculture to climate change.

The strong trends in climate change already evident, the likelihood of further changes occurring, and the increasing scale of potential climate impacts give urgency to addressing agricultural adaptation more coherently. There are many potential adaptation options available for marginal change of existing agricultural systems, often variations of existing climate risk management. We show that im...

How to define ‘Moral Realism’

Moral realism is the doctrine that some propositions asserting that some action is ‘morally’ good (obligatory, bad, or wrong) are true. This paper examines three different definitions of what it is for an action to be ‘morally’ good (with corresponding definitions for ‘morally’ obligatory, bad, or wrong) which would make moral realism a clear and plausible view. The first defines ‘morally good ...
